Clients - hardware, software, PDAs, web browsers

Hansa is truly cross-platform, supporting any mix of the following operating systems/hardware combinations on the same network, without the requirement for any additional software:
  • Linux - runs native on most Linux releases on PCs, and uses a graphical interface such as XWindows.
  • Windows 98 to XP - on PCs.
  • Macintosh OS 9 and X - runs native on any release from 9.1 onwards, on any Mac.
  • Windows CE - runs on any PocketPC with at least 240x240 pixels, such as the iPaq. Can be run in batch mode (regular synchronisation over a dock) or real time (over networks from Bluetooth and Radio Frequency to GSM/GPRS for mobile working).
  • Web browsers - the Hansa server can output pure HTML screens alongside data, so all areas of the database can be written to or interrogated from a web browser.
  • "Naked iron" - the term given to an implementation directly onto hardware, without an operating system. This is aimed at point of sales implementations, where the reliability and cost advantages of this approach are particularly important.
